We don't have your journal.

Sosta Log privacy, in plain language: your journal stays on your device, there are no accounts today, and the site's analytics are cookieless and aggregate.

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Your journal

Every entry you log stays where you put it — on your disk in the native apps, in your browser’s private storage on the web. On macOS it is also mirrored as plain markdown files in a folder you choose, which you can read, back up, or move with any tool you like. That mirror is the point: your journal should outlive this app.

Today there are no accounts and nothing to sign up for, and nothing you write is sent to us or to anyone else.

What the app does on its own

The app carries no analytics and no telemetry — there is nothing in it reporting what you do back to us.

A copy installed from an app store is updated by that store. A copy downloaded straight from this site checks here for new versions, and that check — which sends nothing but a request for the current version number — is the only call the app makes on its own.

This website

sostalog.com has no accounts and sets no cookies to identify you. For traffic numbers we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate — it counts page views and referrers without a cookie, without a device fingerprint, and without following you to other sites. There is no ad tech and no third-party script that profiles you. We count downloads and which channel a signup came from, but never tied to a person. The site and the downloads are served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure keeps standard, short-lived server logs (things like IP address and requested URL) to run the service.

The one thing we collect

If you type your email into a “notify me” form, we store that email — with the topic you asked about — in Cloudflare KV. It is used solely to send you that one notification. We don’t sell it, share it, or add it to a marketing list. Want it removed? Email hello@pigeonpile.com and it’s gone.

If any of this ever changes

This page describes Sosta Log as it ships today, and it is the policy for Sosta Log specifically — the other Pigeonpile apps carry their own.

We have talked publicly about paid features and about syncing between your devices. Neither has been built, and neither has been designed. So this policy deliberately makes no promises about how they would work — we would rather tell you the truth once than guess now. If either is ever added, this page will be updated to say exactly what changes — what is collected, who holds it, and what happens to it — before it ships, not after.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think we can do better, write to hello@pigeonpile.com. A privacy policy for a local-first product should be this short — if it ever grows, ask us why.
